Sainte-Foy itself is a village midway between Bourg St Maurice and Tignes but 4km above the village at 1550m is Ste-Foy Station. The ski “station” of Sainte-Foy is a complete ski resort in miniature with a choice of bars, restaurants, and some sports shop and a supermarket.

 

Ste-Foy is a hamlet which opened its first lift in 1991 and is still in its infancy. There has been some development in traditional chalet style but the centre of the village has retained its original ambience. The local slopes rise to 2620m and the chair lifts give access to unlimited and varied off-piste skiing in a beautiful un-spoilt wilderness and some good family skiing.

 

If you have a car you have an inexhaustible choice of skiing with 30 minutes’ drive. La Rosière, twenty minutes away is an attractive resort in a sunny setting at 1850m on the Italian border with an extensive ski area of 150km up to 2610m including La Thuile in Italy.

 

Within half anhour’s drive are some of the finest ski areas in France -Val d’Isère, Tignes, La Plagne and Les Arcs - yet Ste-Foy

feels a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the big resorts.
